Civil Court
hears all civil claims. The court is limited to claims of less than
$25,000 subject to some restrictions.
The filing fee
for claims less than or equal to $7,500.00 is $100.00 and the filing
fee for claims over $7,500.00 to a maximum of $25,000.00 is $200.00.
The Small Claims
Court is under the jurisdiction of the Manitoba Court of Queen's
Bench and is a way to settle monetary disputes that do not exceed
$7,500

including interest).
You will have to pay the following filing fees to file your claim:
* $80 if your claim is $4,999.99 or less
* $160 to file your claim if your claim is from $5,000 to $25,000
* $80 if you want goods returned, as long as they are worth $25,000
or less

The Small Claims
Court hears civil cases in which the amount of money or the value
of personal property being claimed is $25,000 or less
The $25,000 limit came into effect April 1, 2006. Claimants who
had claims exceeding $5,000 and who filed claims under the previous
limit of $5,000 can apply to the court to have their claim limits
raised if their cases have not yet been settled.
Fees for filing
a claim
The cost for filing a claim of $3,000 or less is $50
The fee for claims between $3,000.01 and $25,000 is $100.
